My Directoral Debut ‘In My Words’ is Out.

After months of hard work amongst the team, my directorial debut ‘In My Words’ is finally out!! I am super excited to finally share this project with everyone. ‘In My Words’ is inspired by a true story of a 14-year-old girl who was diagnosed with terminal cancer to which she held a dying wish of being Cryogenically frozen.

Working on this project was an absolute delight. Coming straight off the back of this film’s sister project ‘Lazarus’ Dir. Samuel Crowley, I was, fortunately, able to go into this piece with a foundation. A foundation that inspired me to create a sequel which explores the emotionality of our characters and grounds them in a way to show the journey of how our characters ended up in court anyway. This piece went through many iterations, what was originally going to be an abstract representation of her mental health instead switched to a powerful monologue-driven piece that takes the audience through the young life of Bethany.

Throughout this production, I had the most amazing team behind me. Every single one of them gave their undoubted commitment and with their combined ability to adapt, we have been able to curate a product that we are all extremely proud of. A special shout-out goes to my writer Sydney Lane-Ryer whom I worked incredibly close during this production. Throughout, myself and Sydney had countless writing meetings, late night messages going back and forth on different ideas from total rewrites of ideas to the smallest contingencies. We went through thick and thin to make sure what we could output was the best we could do.

The memories I’ve made during this production are irreplaceable. Thank you to everyone that made it possible.

‘In My Words’ revolves around the profound relationship of grief between mother and daughter. Loss is part of the human experience, and it is through those shared emotions that we discover our commonality, our humanity. I hope that this film will touch the hearts of audiences, encouraging them to reflect, treasure their relationships and find solace in the shared experiences of loss and love. By immersing ourselves in the emotion and stories of others, we deepen our understanding of what it means to be a human and our appreciation for the preciousness of life.
